What can I expect in trauma therapy?
The therapy process is highly personalized and though there are common themes, no two recovery journeys are the same. It’s my duty to inform you about what you expect in the process and that is a large part of our first sessions together. It is common for heightened emotion and potential distress to occur in the process. How to navigate that outside of the therapy room is also something we will discuss in detail when we are together in session.
How will I know if the therapy is working?
In the beginning of our work together we will be naming your wishes for your life and what would be different for you afterwards. We will be doing the work in session and establishing practices to continue outside of session for you to build on your work and find the progress you’re looking for. I don’t have a timeline for you
What if I've never done therapy before?
That's completely okay. Many people begin trauma therapy without prior experience. We'll move at your pace, ensuring you feel comfortable and supported throughout the entire process.
How does Brainspotting differ from traditional talk therapy?
Brainspotting accesses trauma stored in the deep brain and nervous system, going beyond words to process experiences where talk therapy alone may not reach. This bottom-up approach can often create healing more efficiently than traditional methods.
